Don't listen to those idiots. This fear against meeting people online is ridiculous. Most people are decent and wouldn't hurt a fly. You're prob just as likely to get attacked speed dating or in a nightclub. If you're responsible and let someone know where you are, I wouldn't worry. I have met some of the nicest sweetest men on the internet and the sexual tension usually spills over into real life.

Not all people you meet on line are going to be a psycho, I have met some men in the past on line and although there was no real chemistry between us I have remained very good friends with two of them! If it doesn't work out you can never have too many friends :). Although you should be very careful when first meeting them, meet in a very public place
